Our Blog

BlogEngine.NET is an open source blogging software on the .NET platform.

BlogEngine.NET is an open source blogging software on the .NET platform. Kind of like WordPress but native to the Microsoft .NET. It is ‘unusual’ simply because it is the open source project, built on the .NET platform. Also the PHP based blogging packages dominate the blogging area completely, so a .NET one is a welcome addition. BlogEngine.NET is not new, it has been around for a while now, but the last time I checked it had about 5 Extensions (this is what the WordPress plugins are called there). Today there is a list of some 30 useful ones, and even more ones with some usage I did not really understand.

Anyway, I made a test blog SEO Konzultant on the BlogEngine.NET, and will be monitoring how it performs from the SEO perspective. It is interesting to see that none of the BlogEngine.NET Extensions are really addressing the SEO aspects of a blog. Is it simply because BlogEngine.NET is itself made ‘perfect’ from the SEO perspective? We will live to see….

I have written an in depth comparison of BlogEngine.Net Vs WordPress for those interested in a side by side comparison of the two.

I will be interested in seeing how you get on with the SEO aspects. We are redesigning our own website and I have just spent a few days integrating BlogEngine.NET into the site which was quite painful and are hoping once live BlogEngine.NET will draw more traffic to our site.

One thing to note. There is an extension around for SEO. It is currently being evaluated by the BlogEngine.NET team and this is why it isn’t on the extensions page but a quick search should find it.

I think we will be trying to integrate and evalaute the SEO pack on Monday so I will try to remember to check back and let you know how I got on.

Thanks Ross, let us know how it goes with it. I saw the SEO extension but did not install it jet, so really curious to hear your feedback on it.

I’m also interested in how you’re findings are going – how are your pages getting on with the SE’s? How is BE.Net performing (or more accurately, how visible are your blogs)?

Official results – BlogEngile.net is a nice blogging software, but CAN NOT be compared with WordPress when the SEO capabilities are compared. Out of the box, WordPress just publishes the content better for Google (even with the default Theme). When plugins are applied (or extensions fro BlogEngine.NET) the difference just widens even further.

Tobe honest I like the simplicity of BlogEngine.NET… :)

Hello my friend – thi is nice blog, just looking around for blogs, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my sites but looking to change one of them over to a platform like blogengine to experience how it helps.
